Things you’ll need:

-Plain White Mug (Or a Colored Mug but make sure it’s lighter colored)

-Pencils

-Masking Tape

-Oil Based Sharpie (Make sure it’s an Oil Based Sharpie and not a Water Based Sharpie otherwise the design will come off when cleaned)

Directions:

1.)    Start by taking your plain white mug (or colored mug) and make sure it’s clean and dry before you start writing on it.

2.)    Then trace your design with pencil on the mug before writing on it with sharpie. If you’re having trouble drawing free hand you can find a design online and use graphite paper to transfer it onto the mug.

3.)   Once you’re done tracing you can start using sharpies to draw your design onto the mug.  (If you’re having trouble writing straight and not on an angle or you want to create a design, use some masking tape to help) Note that if you use colored sharpies that once the mug is baked, the color will darken so take that into consideration when choosing colors. If you make a mistake with the sharpie, use rubbing alcohol and a swab to remove the sharpie.

4.)   When you are finished your design on the mug, let it dry. (If you used masking tape make sure to let your design dry before removing the tape to prevent smudging) For the best results let the mug dry for 24hrs before baking it in the oven.

5.)    Bake the mug at 225 for 2 or more hours. (Put mug in the oven while it’s cold to prevent cracking) Once baked, leave the mug in the oven until completely cool.

Please note that the mug will not be dishwasher safe (If put in the dishwasher the design can rub off, wash by hand with soap and water instead.
