Happy Birthday Canada! In recognition of our beautiful Country’s 150th Birthday our Langley, Fort Langley, Coquitlam and Port Moody communities have planned some fantastic family events for everyone to enjoy. From hay rides to music performers there is something for every Canadian to celebrate this July 1st.
Let’s start in Coquitlam. This FREE Festival has been named the top 20 in all of Metro Vancouver by Business in Vancouver. Starting at 12:00 pm and finishing with the always impressive fireworks at 10:30 pm this family event has it all!
In celebration of our big birthday this year, the city of Coquitlam has organized a Canadian themed “Battle of the Bands” for your listening pleasure. Children will be entertained with face painting, energetic family performers, arts and crafts, and of course gulping down those delightful mini donuts. You will find this family fun day at Town Centre Park in Coquitlam. More info here.
Port Moody is celebrating Canada Day at the gorgeous Rocky Point Park from 11:00 am- 6:00 pm. Another FREE event, Port Moody’s Recreation staff will be entertaining your kids all day long with art projects, mini golf, a ring toss, lots of prizes plus much more!
For the adult music lovers, you are in for a special treat, as the Rock Band Trooper will be taking the stage along with many other talented performers. Lastly, the award-winning Archangel Fireworks Team is finishing up with their amazing fireworks display overlooking the Burrard Inlet. More information here.
The Township of Langley has organized a Country celebration for us proud Canadians! Located at the Langley Events Centre on 78th and 200th Street they have partnered with 93.7 JR fm better known as the JRBQ. This FREE Canada Day celebration runs from 11am to 6pm with proceeds going to the Basics for Babies Charity.
A Canada Day ceremony will take place at 2:00 pm and the little ones can get wet at the spray park, fill up at the food trucks, get their face painted, play mini golf or showcase their artistic side at the craft table. Children’s performers, Norden the Magician and the Greater Vancouver Zoo can be seen at the newly finished Willoughby Amphitheatre. Fort Langley, bring your appetite! This extravaganza starts at 8:00 am with a FREE pancake breakfast and goes until 10:00 pm. This July 1st celebration is held alongside the Langley Centennial Museum and Exhibition Centre featuring: a petting zoo, hay rides, crafts, face painting and plenty of old fashioned Pioneer games like “needle in a haystack”.
Enjoy a piece of Canada’s birthday cake, listen to live performances and don’t’ forget to bring your blanket and chairs to finish off this celebration with popcorn in hand!
